Healthcare Tech Trends at CES 2022 and Why Health Tech Companies Need Nurse Writers
The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is widely regarded as the most influential tech event in the world. Healthcare is an ever changing industry. New developments in tech happen daily, and tech companies recognize an opportunity for growth within healthcare. Like years prior, many health tech leaders were in attendance at CES this year.
Technology has the potential to revolutionize the healthcare industry. From addressing problems of affordability and accessibility, to improving sleep, innovations all seem to point back to one common goal. Increasing the quality of healthcare.
There is so much potential to integrate new technologies into healthcare. It is very encouraging to see what so many companies are doing in the field. As a result of the current economic climate, healthcare faces many challenges, and a lot of changes are likely on the horizon. Rethinking how we approach healthcare opens up a world of possibilities. Let’s take a look at some of the highlights presented at CES 2022.
Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence may someday affect every aspect of our health. CES 2022 featured a number of companies showcasing the latest in health-related technology. Many people immediately associate artificial intelligence with robots. But, not so fast. In reality, the smartphone in your pocket and the smartwatch on your wrist already integrate artificial intelligence.
Tech companies are developing more efficient methods, and useful tools for improving the efficiency and flow of the entire healthcare system. Patients, therefore, will benefit from a more streamlined healthcare experience. Simplifying healthcare for both patients and providers would change the entire industry.
Applied to the classroom, artificial intelligence is bridging the gap between formal education and hands-on training for medical professionals. Technological advancements allow the creation of more lifelike and realistic simulation training programs. Allowing real-world training to take place in a safe environment.
From the perspective of a nurse, health tech companies have the potential to alter the landscape of healthcare. As preventive care models shift to the forefront, there are many opportunities for health tech companies to prevent illness and save lives.
Oral Hygiene
The disconnect between medical and dental fields has recently been highlighted. The truth is, doctors, dentists, and pediatricians don’t have the best working relationship. Nevertheless, I was delighted to see dental innovation exhibited at CES. The disconnection between medical and dental care is something I have experienced first hand as a pediatric dental surgery nurse. For many children, especially those on the autism spectrum, routine dental care often involves general anesthesia.
In regards to dental hygiene for children, there is a huge elephant in the room: parents are wildly uneducated. The importance of oral health and hygiene cannot be overstated. After your baby teeth fall out, you only have your adult teeth left.
From a nurse’s perspective, the human body does not care that our political system separates medical and dental insurance coverage. However, the fact that this gap exists means that health tech companies have a great opportunity to improve oral health for everyone.
Sleep Innovation
One thing that affects every single one of us, every single day, is sleep. The health benefits of a quality night’s sleep is priceless. This year at CES there were many companies who focused on sleep. The biological need for quality sleep is a common denominator among hospitalized patients and their healthcare providers. Ultimately, everyone wants to fall asleep as soon as they lay their heads on their pillows and wake up feeling rested.
From a nurse’s perspective, better rest seems like one of the best things we could give the healthcare industry. Sleep plays an important role in health and is something that should play a larger role in our healthcare system. Yet in reality, sleeping in a hospital is almost impossible.
Benefits of a Nurse Writer for Healthtech Companies
A registered nurse writer could be a great asset to your next project. Nurse writers have unique perspectives, since they have extensive experience working with patients. Every day, nurses translate medical jargon into language their patients can understand that is meant to inform and educate. Companies that hire nurse writers are able to tap into the nurses medical knowledge and speak directly to their target audiences.
Interested in having a nurse writer join your team? Reach out or schedule a time to chat. I would love to sit down and discuss the project you have in mind. Let’s schedule the time to speak.
